Name History: EA Kids (1993-1995; 1st era) Creative Wonders (1995-2000) EA Kids (2000-2013; 2nd era) Short History: EA Kids was first launched in 1993 as the kids-oriented arm of Electronic Arts. It mainly published educational titles for the PC. In 1995, ABC (under Buena Vista-ABC) acquired 50% of EA Kids, resulting in the company renaming itself to Creative Wonders. EA Kids/Creative Wonders mostly published licensed games with initial IPs including Sesame Street, Madeline, Schoolhouse Rock!, Dr. Seuss, & Arthur. ABC would sell its stake in Creative Wonders in 1997, making the company a wholly owned division of EA. EA would later merge its kids & family arm with Creative Wonders, relaunching EA Kids in 2000. By that time, it lost most of the IPs it had the rights to, notably Sesame Street & Dr. Seuss to NewKidCo & Arthur to The Learning Company. In December 2000, EA bought Hasbro Interactive. The next year, Hasbro Interactive would merge into the revived EA Kids. EA Kids by then had the video game rights to family-friendly Hasbro properties, Cartoon Network shows, family-friendly MGM & Warner Bros films, EM.TV properties, among others along with some original IPs. The company would merge into EA outright in 2013 as part of a reorganization within the company, with most kid-friendly games since then bearing the standard EA name.
