1-2: initial sketches to get a feel for the character. Ironically, I prefer them to the finished pieces 3: I saw a cool picture and wanted to try the pose. It turned out more purple than intended but its okay I guess 4. Effort at drawing fire... it... yeah 5. Reference 6. Original Ash is a sixteen year-old harpy girl. She is a traveler who loves to see the world. She loves beaches, soda, and the ocean. She is very artsy, always patching up her own clothing, collecting cool trinkets, and making jewelry. Always traveling from place to place, she packs light, but makes sure to bring along a book. Not for reading, but to press flowers. Maybe one day she'll settle down, but she is happy traveling for now. Ash can magically control fire. It's very handy for keeping warm, but it's always bittersweet. When she was younger, a fire took her family and home, and she found herself on the streets. She doesn't remember what happened, but she secretly worries that it was her fault. Ash covers the burn scars on her hands with gloves. Fun fact: if I win this character, Ash will be the second harpy character with burn scars I have. Not a lot, but weird it happened twice. Seriously, why are the sketches so much better than the rendered pieces???
