Tap the green flag to start, tap stage to clear screen and show or hide a screenshot from an old logo implementation showing the same sort of program in the logo language. Can you think of some changes to the Scratch code to create more patterns? What about squares? What about more than one Spirograph design at a time?
This is something I learned to do in 3rd grade using a language called Logo. I did some recreation of the poorly-adjusted green monochrome CRT monitor I was using with the Apple ][ and the triangular “turtle” used by Logo for drawing. The screenshot from IBM LCSI Logo is from Susam Pal and released into the public domain on Wikipedia. (The program shown is not exactly the same as what I wrote in Scratch, but shows how the same sort of program is written in Logo.)
