im not sure if this is a tutorial or an art process or whatever but HERE YOU GO All you need is paper and a pencil (and an eraser if the one on your pencil is dry and crusty or non-existent) Click and drag to zoom, space/arrow keys to advance —- 1-2) Every drawing I start off with consists of a base, giving me a general idea of where i want everything. The more complex the pose, the more detailed the base (at least, for me haha) 3) I’m using Nero for this project, usually every time i draw him i start with the rim of his hat and his hair 4-5) ears 6-7) finishing head and neck 8) Body — This is what you would call a bust shot, where you just draw the head and maybe the shoulders and force your oc to live without arms and legs /j 9-10) completion of cap 11) back hair 12) Since i stopped almost every 5 seconds to take a picture, I’m not actually sure if i go with eyebrows first or draw the actual eyes bcus of how slow im going lol— 13) yay eyes >> if you’re having trouble drawing eyes on your oc (( as in, like, you draw the same character but it doesn’t look quite right )), you can use either the crosshairs or something else thats already drawn on the character — for example, for Nero, his bangs usually brush the top of his eyes, so he maintains a consistent look whenever i draw him. 14) mask — this is purely based on style preference, but i like doing a basic line for inklings, that works well enough for me haha 15-17) more details 18) finishing touches / shading >> YOU’RE DONE :party-popper: —- 19) Imma show you how to do a really crappy profile view; do what you did with our first drawing, but instead of drawing crosshairs in the center, simply draw a straight vertical line on the side of the circle where your oc will be facing. 20) hair and hat 21) ear 22) bridge of nose 23) actual nose 24) very minor indication of the mouth (entirely optional — if you don’t like/want to do this, you can just skip this by continuing the line straight down) 25-26) chin/head 27) very badly drawn hat wheeze i wasn’t looking at the photos i took im sorry lol 28) back hair and neck (( when drawing the neck in profile view, keep in mind of the anatomy and proportions — the neck isn’t completely vertical, and it doesn’t meet the body at a sharp 90-degree angle. As organic creatures, we have dips and curves that enhance elegance :nail-polish: /j 29) shirt collar 30-33) eyes 34) finishing touches // yay you’re finished with this one <33 Doing well? We have ONE more :D —- 35) i was going to slap a more dramatic pose thing in here and this is literally the first one that popped up in my head — who doesn’t like to see your oc squirm a bit? Fufufufu /j start with your head base again — since he’s looking at a downwards angle, the horizontal line on the crosshairs is down lower on the circle. 36) draw the shoulders — again, since he’s looking down, the neck is diminished / non-existent and the shoulders are up higher. 37) arms 38) Hands are ridiculously hard to draw, i can’t tell you how many times i messed up drawing hands and how many ocs i drew with their hands in pockets (with clothes that prolly aren’t supposed to/don’t have pockets) — again, since this is a base, it absolutely does not need to be perfect haha ((usually in digital artwork, my hands are a mess of scribbles before i move on to lineart)) 39) arms and rest of body (( note the bend in the torso — this accentuates the idea that he’s bending over. 40) hair and hat again 41) ears and head 42) shirt collar (in this instance, don’t be afraid that his neck is gone — if this is your first time drawing it, it’ll definitely feel weird, but you’ll get used to it <33) 43) hands 44) shirt — if you’re having trouble drawing creases and wrinkles in clothing, just look at the clothes you’re wearing now :’D Here’s a basic rule of thumb: with loose baggy clothing, there’s going to be less wrinkles, that are drawn more gracefully with less jagged lines. With tight or rough-fabric clothing (like jeans or something), there tend to be a lot more wrinkles, all bunched together in a ‘corner’ (like at the bending point when you bend your arms or legs). 45) arms — these are also diminished due to perspective (foreshortening). 46) seamline thingy in the shirt. Notice how it seems to fold with the material and body, instead of being at a complete straight line. 47) another clunky hat 48) eyes — to heighten a tense, uneasy mood, make the eyes wider than they usually would be (unless your oc is a happy oc and has super wide eyes to begin with, in that case, just shrink the pupils lol) 49) eyebrows / inkling mask 50) small eyes give a feeling of shock, surprise, or fear. 51) to further enhance the feeling of “that’s not good”, add some sweat and horizontal lines in between the eyes (( this is something common you see in manga / anime ))
(( cont bcus “desc is too long” )) 52) bcus Nero is evil and has a “condition”, we have that crooked line across his face — as it’s more of a substance of some sort rather than like a piece of paper covering his face or whatever, the line isn’t completely straight. 53-54) cover that half of his face black >> and his hand 55) draw vertical lines across his chest to indicate a shadow 56) hair 57-58) throw in some tentacle thingies and make ‘em black too and BABAM YOU’RE DONE :happy celebrational noises: —- I hope that was somewhat satisfactory?? I wanted to make an extra and show y’all how i draw little buddy, but scratch decided to reload and most of the pictures concerning him disappeared D: I’m sorry wheeze Thanks for viewing !! I hope it was helpful <33 Edit oops i forgor to color his left eye black oh well ___________________________________________________ Coding: @-SushiDoesStuff-, @F1sza3 Character: Nero Art: @F1sza3 Audio: Mii Maker - Nintendo
