This was the last performance of Elvis “The King” Presley. On June 21, Elvis sat down at a piano and played his final song, “Unchained Melody.” He was visibly in pain, even sweating. He wasn’t fat, he was bloated. He played the piano perfectly, as his beautiful voice rang out for one last song. The crowd cheered, and The King smiled. However, behind that smile was pure and unimaginable pain. After this last song, Elvis said his last words to his fans. “We’ll meet you again soon. God bless, adios.” At around 2:00 in the morning of August 16, Elvis was in bed, when he got up to go to the bathroom. He told fiancé, Ginger Alden “I’m going to the bathroom to read.” She told him “Don’t fall asleep.” To which Elvis replied, “Okay, I won’t.” Little did he know, he would fall asleep. But, he wouldn’t wake up. The King was found slumped over on the bathroom floor, his pants at his ankles. Elvis Presley had died of a heart attack on August 16, 1977. He was only 42.
