The GE C40-8.5W was a short-lived rebuild program carried out by Norfolk Southern at their Juniata Locomotive Shops near Altoona, Pennsylvania. Twelve C40-8 locomotives were given wide cabs, but the program was considered a failure, and only 12 were ever made. All are no longer on the NS roster, and scrapped. I included two variants, one with the ditch lights on the pilot and one with the lights on the plow section.
