This is why BLM. I would like to clear some things up because I think some people have the mindset, but are pretty confused. 1. ALM is something that we should all believe in, but over the course of history societal rules, laws (redlining and others), police brutality, and microaggressions have shown that people don't think BLM or that they don't matter as much. This means the fact ALM cannot be true unless BLM. Therefore ALM can't be true unless BLM 2. Whether racism is intentional or unintentional it still contributes to structural racism that makes life in a predominantly white America harder for minorities. This unintentional racism is called microaggressions and is created from societal rules or stereotypes. 3. Even though there is racism on both ends, most societal rules, and laws have been systematically placed to hinder minorities. Black Lives Matter. First off, more than 1 officer has messed up. Have you heard of Trayvon Martin or Breonna Taylor? Many people have died from police brutality, and its because of an institution, a structure that is made to work against minorities. Also, have you watched the video? The officer did not mess up, George Floyd said, “I can’t breathe.” But what happened? The officer continued choking George Floyd. For the police, I believe they have had a lot of valor, and have saved many people, but a lot of their training has resulted in many tragedies. Therefore, the term defund the police comes out. The police are called for doing things they are not qualified for, so if we take away money from police and give it to other services those problems are solved. Yes there have been riots, yes people have died, but do you know that systemic racism has led to much more death, destruction and grief. 1. Redlining- redlining has stopped minorities from becoming homeowners by having banks not give loan for houses in a certain area (usually where minorities lived) 2. Lynching- killing and hurting minorities was very common, and had very few repercussions the antagonists, sometimes policemen deputized them. One prime example of lynching is the KKK they regularly killed and attacked minorities, as well as scaring off senators that were trying to pass legislation that protected minorities. Black Wall Street was also destroyed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc7lXBL9mng&t=387s. Now for George Floyd: Few people have said that white people are not targeted by police violence, the fact is that minorities are disproportionately killed compared to white people. Honestly if you have to say white people are killed too, that shows that there is too much police violence. Although the police are doing their jobs, they should not handle someone like that, his "resisting" was trying to not die because he was being choked. So because he has sold drugs he deserves to die, consequence should be equal to crime. Also I don't think trying to breathe is resisting. The "Trend" It's to support an idea, yes sometimes people just do it because it's a trend, but many of these projects are from people who actually care that black lives matter. Don't say all lives matter, because all lives do matter, but black lives have constantly been oppressed and not seen as equal. More on ALM: That is not the point, all lives do matter, but black lives have been seen as not equal to others or not worth anything. They have been oppressed, so if you say All lives Matter or I don't see color, you are ignoring the oppression and struggle of many minorities. Some rights reserved to SuperPineapple123. The point is not that only black people matter, all lives do matter, but throughout history black lives have been seen as less and black people have main target for police brutality. We need to stop this!
@a-lesbian inspired this @CeeBee BLM Racism Is not 1 thing, it cannot be solved, it will always exist in someone's mind, but what we can do is stop systemic oppression.
