The point of this project was to make a sprite based raycaster that doesn't lag, but I might also use this method for future projects. (Edit from the future) May 01, 2020. That was the day when I invented my own raycaster technique. It has a lot of fisheye effect, but I really ended up getting far with this simple technique. I made a version with images, then eliminated the fisheye effect, made a 3D cloud game, and finally invented the raylister. I'm not going to go completely technical with raylisters for this explanation, so if you want to see how they work, look at https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/485886876/. They aren't quite raytracers, but they allow the raycaster to have different heights, by using different map sprites. If you want to see more projects like this, you can see https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/27688047/. This is probably my worst shared raycaster, because every 3D project after this, I had one upgrade.
