VOCABULARY AND INFORMATION ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALTERHUMANITY Alterhuman: the umbrella term for all identities that are NON HUMAN --Alterhumanity is usually INVOLUNTARY, BUT can be voluntary. other terms are used for voluntary identification (otherlink, funlink, etc) -Altertype = the entity one identifies as -It is possible to have many altertypes and use many labels under the alterhuman umbrella!! -Alterhumans may experience shifts (a period of a deeper feeling of connection to their altertype) -Alterhumanity is commonly experienced on: SPIRITUAL LEVEL: a belief of possessing the soul of a nonhuman entity; belief of reincarnation or a past life of the entity. PSYCHOLOGICAL LEVEL: Alterhumanity believed to be caused by neurobiology, or psychology (including neurodivergence) PHYSICAL LEVEL: Identifying as nonhuman on this level is not very widely explored within alterhuman spaces. Common descriptions of physical alterhumanity usually include: being a (nonhuman entity) : -in the shape of a human -in the body of a human -in the mind of a human ------------------------------------------------------------------------- THERIANTHROPY Therianthropy is identifying as a nonhuman animal, usually on the levels as listed above THERIOTYPE(s): the animal(s) that somecritter identifies as MICROLABELS ------------------------------------------------------------------ POLYTHERIAN: somecritter with multiple theriotypes. SUNTHERIAN: a therian whose human and animal sides are closely blended together: suntherians may rarely experience shifts CONTHERIAN: a therian that does not experience shifts PALEOTHERIAN: A therian that identifies as an extinct animal >>SHIFTS ARE NOT THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE OF ALTERHUMANITY; THEY ARE NOT A REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TO MAKE ONE AN ALTERHUMAN<< HOLOTHERE: someone who identifies as an animal on a physical level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SHIFTS -shifts are when the alterhuman feels a deeper connection with their altertype Mental shift: a change in awareness somecritter experiences in relation to their altertype including increased urges related on instinct to their altertype Dream shift: a shift in which somecritter sees or is their altertype in a dream Sensory shift: Somecritter feels a heightened ability or change in their senses (common in therianthopy; ex. feeling a heightened sense of smell) Phantom shift: Somecritter feels a body part that their altertype has that they DO NOT ex. (A therian might feel fur, feathers, wings, claws, teeth, paws, tail, etc) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTHERKIN -Otherkin is a larger label alongside alterhumanity -Otherkin can identify as: -Fictional characters/species -Mythical creatures -objects of nature -Inanimate objects -concepts NOTE: most Otherkin are aware that they are physically human and still function within human society. KINTYPE: the entity that somecritter identifies as AWAKENING: realizing that somecritter is otherkin.
