Liberty with Liberty Multi slide update This update has been coming since I got this horse, hasn’t it? Well when I signed up for Meadowfields quest board and got this prompt “Create a Multi slide update Of you and a horse you own Completing a liberty session.” It was kinda obvious who I had to do it with! Todays’ the day! Liberty with Liberty! Liberty and I have been doing a lot of work in eventing these days that I thought ‘Why not change it up?’. This afternoon after a few barn chores I got my favorite blue roan (and only) out for his first liberty session. I had already brushed him this morning, because he had a few pesky field stains and so we went directly from his field to the arena. He was pretty laidback as we went to the arena, maybe a little confusion about him not having any tack on. I started by just taking off the lead rope and seeing how he reacts. He trotted around head in the air and then went to the fence and started grazing, basically what he does normally when I let him out to pasture. After letting him graze a few minutes I called him over, he responded well. He already knew that he should come over when I call. Then patted him for a few seconds before walking to the middle of the arena where I asked him to walk. We use voice commands with each other when we work so he just looked at me like “Where’s the lunge line, Cove?” And walked on. Though when I asked him for a trot after a few minutes of playing imaginary lunge he just looked at me again and kept walking lazily. When I asked him a few more times he started to trot. After trotting him in a few messy circles, I asked him to walk and then came over, giving him a treat. Surprised by the fact that he actually did it. Though when I asked him for canter he gave a buck and cantered a circle before galloping off. After a quick calling back, we tried again and he did the same. I felt that he was loosing his concentration, so I asked him to just trot one last circle to end on a good note. I gave him a treat and a few cuddles, before bringing him to his pasture. Where, after doing his ritual bucking and gallops, he rolled and acquired more grass stains. I will never win… Credits @minty-meadxws - My favorite Blue Roan and halter @MythopianPegasus - Rider base, edited by me Me - Everything else
