WARNING!!‼️ This project and story contains: bl00d, h0m1c1de investigations, v1olence, and lwk mvrd3r NOT SUTIBLE FOR PEOPLE 13 AND UNDER. You have been warned dont report me Chapter 8: God “….huff..” L sighed. He stared at the video tapes of Shinji’s office. Monitoring the suspects. No one was suspicious enough to bring them in for another round of questioning. However, someone was unusual. Shinji. The man sat at his own desk, typing up reports, but his face was dull. He looked seriously annoyed, his face propped up on his hand, his foot tapping against the ground. “Hmm…he’s never been like this before..” L muttered. “He might just be having a bad day…or week…” L didn’t believe his own claims for a second. Shinji had acted strangely these past few days. The hit and run culprit, Takeo Kaoru, had been found, st4bb3d to d3ath in his apartment. It was brutal. The mvrderer must have hated that man. That’s how bad it was. Even L was horrified. That was a mvrder that even the culprit couldn’t enjoy inflicting. That much was true. The culprit hadn’t enjoyed it. “Maybe we should bring them in for questioning… just in case.” L muttered to himself. Shinji stood up. L leaned slightly closer to the camera, focused entirely on Shinji. Shinji rubbed his eyes slowly, his chest rising with a heavy sigh. He stepped away from his desk, grabbing his coat off the back of his chair. A woman approached him. She had long black hair that was tied up in a low bun. She started talking to Shinji. The cameras didn’t have audio, but it was clear it was a very soft, flirty sort of talk. Shinji stood there, staring at her. He looked like he was trying to be polite and not say anything, but L followed his gaze to a ring on the woman’s finger. A wedding ring. The woman continued to talk, before she touched Shinji’s arm. That was Shinji’s breaking point. He swatted her hand away from him, stepping back. He had a look of disgust on his face. L saw Shinji’s mouth moving, and read it as best he could. He read something like ‘You’re married. You have a family. What is wrong with you!’ And Shinji angrily walked away from the woman. L bit his nail. “…What are you doing, Shinji…..” L muttered. Shinji had left the building. Against every logical part in L’s body, he followed him. Maybe as a detective observing a suspect. Maybe just out of curiosity. It’d been a little more than a week since Kotone Amano’s d3ath. The date was December 14th, 2003. Kotone Amano had been buried in a small cemetery surrounded by large canopy trees. There was barely any snow falling through them anymore, as the snow had piled on top of their leaves. L found Shinji knelt in front of a headstone, staring at it with a shell-shocked expression. L knelt next to Shinji. “You knew her?” He said, raising an eyebrow. Shinji nodded slowly. “She was… my friend.” He said. L was almost sure now that Shinji was his culprit. Kotone Amano d1es, and her mvrderer d1es just the next day. And here was this man, saying she was his friend. It wasn’t enough evidence, though it put Shinji at the top of the suspect list. L patted Shinji’s shoulder. Shinji’s eyes drifted over to L, and he smiled. L left him soon after that. Shinji’s world felt like it was collapsing. ‘This could not be happening. This was not happening. This was not happening.’ He couldn’t stop himself from envisioning the accident. Kotone, walking home. A bright light, a loss of control of the wheel, a loud horn and a scream, before she realized what was going on. Then cut off. And darkness. A lot of darkness. He wallowed in it, the impossibility of surviving without her. She wasn’t d3ad, she couldn’t be. It just wasn’t possible.
But here he was, staring at her grave. She was gone and he knew it. He knew it all too well. Shinji’s mind wandered to the woman earlier. The married woman. The married woman with two small children. He clenched his fists. God, how he hated people like that. He hated them so much. People who tried to abandon their families just for a moment of whatever the hell they thought freedom was. Freedom shouldn’t mean doing that. Freedom isn’t s3ducing the father of a young boy, and taking that father away from that boy, and leaving that boy to deal with his mother, who falls into a street one night under a car, leaving that boy utterly alone. Leaving that boy to deal with living in a new home where he is not welcome, a home that leaves scars on his body. A home and a life and a childhood that shapes that boy into a young man who hates and hates and hates. A young man who finally gets his well-deserved revenge on that very first woman, only to realize he’s too far gone now to stop. And then take away that man’s only thing to live for. Take it away, God said. And so to that man, there is no God. And if there is, God is sick. God wanted him to suffer, to lose everything and everyone. If there is a God, is he just or unjust? Shinji stood up. The man who loved Kotone Amano was nowhere to be found. “….oh, god…” L said. The woman from yesterday had been found. D3ad. Forensics had found fingerprints. Shinji Kazama matched the exact pattern. written by: @pandasans765 cover: @pandasans765 story: @pandasans765 js lore dropped shinji’s entire childhood bc he deserves some explanation before the last chapter guys i’m trying my best i swear i js have really bad digital art block rn so the cover is lazy but symbolic
