Project Polar A giant space needle that sticks to a planet and drills a heck-ton of minerals from the planet's crust. with the side effect being that it releases a bunch of toxic gasses that choke out plant life. oh it also creates a hole for the Mantle to spill out of, essencially killing the planet.
