Hello, and welcome to the Nest! You will have to read all of this information to join. You have been warned. This project will dive all into what Songbird Studios is and how you can join! But before you join, we ask that you read all of the following information to help you all get a better understanding of what we do and to avoid the same questions being asked! First of all, what is a studio? Something to keep in mind before we dive into this is that this is different from a scratch 'studio'. A studio in the real world refers to a film or television production company that signs actors to long-term, exclusive contracts, however, on scratch this means more of a community where actors, artists, directors, and agents alike can come together to help each other broaden their experience in helping with animations/comics/or any voice-over style project on scratch. We do not "own" these actors, we simply are a way to help actors get more experience. So what does Songbird Studios do, then? Well, we first and foremost help people on scratch who are struggling to find auds, if they are not really in anything at the moment or feel like all of their projects are dying, Songbird Studios' agents and directors can help them find new projects to audition for! This helps everyone all around, giving the VA's new jobs and the directors new VAs to work with!! What is an agent? This is a great question, and its one we actually get a lot. An agent---at least, here on scratch---is someone that goes out and searches for auditions, asks if the auditions are open, then sends the link to a VA (typically one VA that they specifically work for). For example, two great agents we know are @Mari_Reader and @casette_mp3. A VA typically will have 1-2 agents. Agents can also help remind VAs to do certain things like record lines, or audition before a deadline. What is a director? Great question! A director is a leadership role that generally refers to the creative lead of a film, stage, or online production. This is typically the person that holds auditions on scratch or starts the projects for auditions. [[the codeword is "xwhszcode" -- this will be relevant later, I promise]] Can I join Songbird Studios if I am a ___? People that are qualified to join SBS are the following: -Voice Actors (you do not need any experience, as long as you are on scratch for the purpose of voice acting, you apply to this category) -Directors / Casting Directors (if you have a project that needs voice actors or artists, we're the place to be!!) -Artists (interested in doing art for a project but you can't find an open project --- or worse, you keep getting rejected?! WE'RE YOUR GUY!!!) -Vocalists (if you're a singer who wants to sing in musical-style project or do backing vocals, or anything of the sort, welcome to the nest! -Coders (if you are a coder who is interested in helping animators, we'd love to have you join us!) -Animators (you guys are one of the MOST sought-out for people in VA-style scratch projects. The Nest would LOVE to have you join us!) If you are someone who would like to join, but you aren't sure if you qualify or you don't really fit into any of those boxes, please let us know, we'd be happy to help figure out if we're the right place for you! When will SBS officially open / be active? We are technically active now, however, because this account is not a 'Scratcher' there is very little we can do. We will try our best to activate Monday, October 19th 2026. However, even thought we aren't active, we ARE excepting people into our studio. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK TO JOIN!!! Ok, well then how do I join? Excellent question again! To join, all you have to do is read all of this information, follow us, and comment the following: || preferred name || pronouns || age range (we recommend doing 2-3 years ex: 12-14 or 10-12) || are you a VA, director, artist, animator, coder, agent, or something else? || how did you find out about songbird studios? || did you read all of the information on the 'Instructions'? || codeword Once you comment this, we will do our best to respond as fast as we can and let you in. Please comment on this project or our profile if you have any questions. We do ask that once you become a Songbird, you go out and talk to at least 3 other scratchers about SBS so that we can get more people! Make sure that the comment section is one that accepts advertising before you post an ad about SBS. Thanks! Use this template if you'd like: Hello everyone (or [name of person you're talking to])!!
