Folklore /ˈfəʊklɔː/ noun 1. traditional customs, tales, sayings, dances, or art forms preserved among a people 2. something powerful enough to change the world 3. something that shouldn't be forgotten ──────────────── There is a house, on the edge of a forest. Tall, and old, so many years older than you. Than any of us. It has been passed down. Person through person. Generation through generation. Hand to hand. It is unfair to call it a house. It is a home, a haven, a portal. ──────────────── When you enter for the first time, it feels as though it's welcoming you. It is ──────────────── Folklorist / ˈfoʊkˌlɔr ɪst / noun 1. a student, scholar or expert of folklore 2. someone who lived long ago and who had very messy handwriting 3. someone who owned a house at the edge of a forest ──────────────── You turn the journal over in your hands, brushing the dust off the old leather and studying the patterns embossed on it. It feels heavy, though it's not much larger than any other journal you've held.
