Asher - Nickname Ash, grew up middle class in a family of cops. His dad died in the line of duty never finishing his work, so Ash joined on what he felt was his moral duty. He's obsessed with perfection and justice and order, even though a part of him knows the system is flawed. Jace - Grew up in wealth and privilege but also emotional isolation. He was brilliant and considered a genius and child prodigy at age 5. But he was also very reserved, even as a child. His parents mainly wanted an heir to their business empire, but Jace didn't have the passion nor ambition. His father constantly berated him, and Jace learned early that there was no one on his side. Ryker - Nickname Ry, he grew up orphaned and passed through the foster system throughout his entire childhood. Despite this, Ryker grew up loud and energetic. He became sarcastic, impulsive, and reckless, learning the talent of being able to charm his way out of any situation. He is also a pathological liar. Basically mal is overseeing this monopoly on the dr*g called Angel's Dust. Ash just happened to be one of the cops assigned to tracking the business down. Mal represents everything wrong in a society, and Ash desperately wants to eradicate him to return life to the "norm." Ryker, at the time, was in a lot of debt since he had an unfavorable addiction to gambling, and he had borrowed quite a bit of money from a casino where mal had jurisdiction.
