Open Your Eyes . a poem I was too afraid to open my eyes thought they'd shrink from the light But never letting anything in at all makes them worse than what we'd thought I was too scared to open the door as if something would creep and sprawl But I couldn't be trapped in that dim room for being frozen is always doom Spread your hope to the balcony Fly up high with the falcon's wings Release yourself before someone else takes a cage and pardons themselves To bound yourself down is to spell your own demise So break through those chains and open those eyes
