Hello there! Welcome to episode one of Pip-X-Plains! A series made by me (Avery) where I discuss different terms across the internet! In today's episode, I'm explaining yumeships, what they are, and how they work! ^^ ✦ What is a yumeship? A yumeship is when a person ships their real life self, their sona, their oc (original character), or self insert with a fictional character! Many people think it's only shipping your real life self with a fictional character, and they're not wrong, but yumeships reach out to self inserts, ocs, and sonas! ✦ Are all yumeships romantic? No! Yumeships can be way more than just romantic! Some yumeships are platonic, others are familial, but most of them are usually romantic, whether it's dating, engaged, married, or even as simple as a crush! Yumeships can be ANY kind of relationship, and not just platonic! ✦ What are sharing statuses? Sharing status are boundaries set by yumeshippers SPECIFICALLY meant for doubles (a person who yumes' with the same character.) to learn about each common yumeship status, read the notes and credits! ✦ How can I express my yumeship? You can express your yumeship in many different ways! You can post yumeship art with your f/o (fictional other), create a "Get to know my yumeship" chart, or go as far as making DIY crafts such as shrines or paper dolls in real life! There are many ways to express it, so get creative! ✦ Is yumeshipping a mental disorder? I see a lot of people say this and the answer is no! Yumeshipping is a way to have fun, feel more connected with your fictional character, or cope with a trauma or tough time. The whole "dating" thing in the community is only a way to show how much you adore the character as a whole, not being a mentally ill person who REALLY thinks a fictional character is real. ✦ Are pr0/d4rk relationships okay? I prefer to NOT do pro/d4rk yumeships, and if the character you like is older or younger than you, you can make a new oc/self insert for you to be dating them in that universe, and if you still decide to do it, I prefer you add a warning before hand. ✦ Can I ship myself with real peo- NO. Doing that completely erases the point of a yumeship and makes the person uncomfortable. I see this a lot online. ✦ Do I have to label myself as a yumeshipper if I match any of these? No! You can label yourself if you're comfortable with the term! You can just say "oc x canon" and call it a day, but you can join the community whenever you want! with any ship you have! Extra info: The character you ship yourself with is called your F/O (Fictional other) Ironically, you can also have F/E (Fictional enemies) which are characters you or your ocs DESPISE Lil fun fact abt me: The T heart clip on my chibi sona (Pip) actually represents my f/o, TSC, despite me shipping him with my stick figure oc ^^ Bonus: If you match any of these, and want to label yourself as a yumeshipper, post your yumeship in the comments, and your sharing status! (if you have one)
Sharing statuses: ✦ Hypersharing: A person who is extremely overjoyed when encountering a double, and at times may even try to look for doubles just to know they're not alone on liking the same character! ✦ Sharing: A person that when encounters a double, is chill, they don't get excited, but they're completely fine with you interacting with them! ✦ Selective sharing: A person who is fine with doubles, but has specific boundaries, for example, only their close friends who yume with the same character can interact, or maybe a person will only dni people who are 'married' to their f/o ✦ Nonsharing: A person who doesn't like interacting with doubles or when doubles interact with them. If a person tries interacting with them, they will most likely block or ignore you. ✦ Voidsharing: A person who doesn't want to EVER encounter a double, they try to believe their doubles don't exist (as in theres no one else that ships with their f/o) and when encountering a double, they will most likely block you. Remember, just because a person is voidsharing doesn't mean they're "selfish" or "obsessive". Sharing statuses are only for personal comfort, and just for people to feel happy with their f/o ✦ Mirrorsharing: Like the name suggests, is almost like a mirror, if a person is sharing, you become sharing, but if a person is nonsharing you become nonsharing, this changes based on the person they're interacting with.
