There was only a white screen and a cat. The creator deleted the cat. Then, the creator used the square tool in the costume editor. They picked a bright blue color and drew a perfect square. That was the block's very first body. Next, the creator gave the block a brain. They did this by dragging blocks of code together. They added code so the block could move when players press the W, A, S, and D keys. They added code so the block could jump when players press the Space bar. They also added code so people could play the game on mobile phones by touching the screen. The hardest part was making the world look 3D. Scratch is usually flat like a piece of paper. The creator had to write a long math script. This script tricks your eyes. It makes the green road look like it stretches far away into the distance. It makes the three golden coins float in the air. When everything was finished, the creator clicked the Share button. That is the exact moment the blue block was born for the whole world to see. Now, he stands at the bottom of the green hill every time a new player opens the page. He waits for someone to click the green flag so he can run, jump, and collect his coins.
