Chapter Two: The Bewitched Dummy I walk in the corridors by myself, I have to practice if I'm going to win. So I go into the duel room. A lot more people come in here to practice, if they're serious. Inside, there are chairs for other people to watch, portraits that are asleep, and a circle-like stage in the middle. There is dust everywhere, probably because people hasn't been inside recently. I walk through the organized chairs, grabbing my wand from my royal blue robes. It smells like very old wooden instruments. I walk in-between the pillars, barely touching them. Then I see a wooden dummy, holding a practice wand. It's incredibly identical to an actual person. But it doesn't have any hair or clothes, It's kind of like a mannequin, but with a human carved face. The second I step onto the circle-like stage, the eyes on the bewitched dummy flash on. "STATE YOUR NAME, AGE, AND GRADE!" It says. "Fleur Delacour, 17, seventh grade." I say firmly. "STATE THE LEVEL!" it bellows. "Intermediate." "LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE!" Before I could react, the bewitched dummy raised its wand and shoots red lights at me. I barely doge it, hitting my left shoulder. A shooting pain reaches to my color-bone, the pain makes me fall to my knees." "ENEMY INJURED! PROCEED OR NOT!" The bewitched dummy says. I pant, coming back up. "Proceed." The red light flashes again, but this time I'm ready. "Protego!" At this point, the portraits have awoken. Cheering for me, and even giving me advice. "Want some advice?" Asked a pointed chin witch. "That'll be awesome by now." I say gasping after a few more spells. "Shape your shield closer and smaller to you. Also, make it more pointed" "Got it." "Expelliarmus!" The bewitched, this time, I was more ready. "Protego!" This time, I did what the pointed chin witch told me to. I made it closer to me, smaller, and more pointed. And it was actually good advice. What happened was, that after the red-sparked spell slammed into my shield, it pushed me back a few steps, making me slide. Then, I pushed my shield forward. I meant to push it towards the bewitched dummy, but I pushed it down. The red-sparked spell didn't dissolve, it slammed into the ground, then ricocheted into the ceiling. Crap. Now everyone will know I'm here. The dirt and dust shakes off the ceiling. The portraits shake. The one with the portrait of the witch with pointed chin actually falls. I jump forward for it. This portrait must have been at least centuries old, and I won't let it brake because I was training. I land on my ribs, reaching my hands forward, with one hand half holding my wand. I barely catch the portrait. I groan in pain, then sigh in relief. "Oh, thank you, deary!" The witch says. "No," I groan again. "problem." I slowly stand up, my legs shaking. Then I put the portrait back up. "OPPONENT WEAKENED! POWERING OFF IN 5! 4! 3!---" "No, no no! I'm fine." I say. But I didn't stop it, it already powered off. I might as well get off and back on. When I did, the blue eyes flashed once again. "STATE YOUR NAME, AGE, AND GRADE!" It bellows. "Fleur Delacour, 17, seventh grade." "STATE THE LEVEL!" I take a deep breath. The champion at Hogwarts won't hesitate, won't take a break. The champion at Durmstrang won't hesitate, won't take a break. And Beauxbatons Academy won't either. "Maximum."
