"The Person I Love is Mortal" The hardest I’ve ever cried was in a dream. I claim to love you, but I’ve never even shed any tears for you. It wasn’t even real. “Dreams can be so vivid as to be indistinguishable from real life” More time has been wasted, more breath, in the past. Good grades mean nothing if they’ve always been one straight line. Convinced if I wipe away the grime, there’ll be self love. Convinced self love is clear and contains something, like a geode. People die. Young, old, pained, meaninglessly, worthless, purposefully. People die; hurt people hurt people, Broken promises break more promises. Care. I command it You’re telling me that this web of animal sinew will catch my dreams and collect them? Nonsense can have my entire wallet, for all I care. Belief has led humanity everywhere. War, innovation, poetry, the construction of memorials and pyramids and societies and night lights. Pink for boys-- actually girls, blue for girls-- actually boys. No emotion is solitary. Anger’s defended sadness, grief’s kissed guilt, blame’s punched self hatred, love’s held hands with resentment. I’ve never gone to therapy, so none of them know about boundaries. Difficulty separating desire, identity, consciously, brainwash, influence, belief, nature, nurture, convinced, inherent, knowledge, intuition, truth, lies, truth, lies, truth behind the lie. Eyes ravaging words, concepts being twisted and tortured, the plagiarism of ego. Lust is primal. I lust for freedom, purpose, the sensation of love weighing on my will to live. Keeping it grounded Am I ahead? Behind? Am I even moving? Is progress 4 dimensional? Units are arbitrary. Movement is relative. What am I supposed to do? If I try, If I try It does change things. It changes everything “You are loved.” It comes out as a choking scream, and she will never hear it, and I will never know whose voices never reached me.
