Back at Crestwood.... ------------ Meet my new lesson student, Hattie. She's is the sweetest, horse crazy, freckle-faced little 9 year old! Hattie and her mom came to view the property about a week ago, and today, she has her first lesson. I put her on Merla. As a bombproof, unmotivated (except by her feed), and slow mare with a slightly less than comfortable trot, she is, imo, the perfect lesson horse. If you disagree, then to each their own boo. Hattie has had a few lessons, so she knew the basics, but she needed some confidence building and some strength building. My first thing that I do for this is take away their stirrups. I wouldn't have done this if Merla wasn't as described above, and we also only did walking without stirrups. Once it was time for Hattie to take back her irons, we did some trotting, working on picking up the correct diagonal. Finally, during the last few minutes of her lesson, I let Hattie play a few rounds of horseback "Around the World" (if you don't know what it is, uhm idk how to explain it im sorry </3). Hattie's mom was very proud of her girl today, and so was I! Hattie told me she had a lot of fun, and she couldn't wait until her next lesson. ------------------ @puff-pxstry- @-wild-optimistic- (idk if thats spelled right) @mythtopianpegasus @-theconjuring @-mistywater-
