Hello! This is the brand new MIDI Player on Scratch! It uses a more updated format, and a different way to import! It also separates the channels and the instruments. A lot of things changed, but it still runs at basically the same speed! Somehow... How to import: First, enter this website https://midiconverter.vercel.app/ to convert a MIDI file into a format this player understands. Then, back at the MIDI Player, press "IMPORT", then follow the instructions to import the file. Once it's imported, the song will start playing. It will sound more accurate than playing the same MIDI file in the older MIDI Player I made. Q: Why isn't there any import option when i right click the list? A: You need to be in the editor via clicking "See Inside". Scratch does not let normal project viewers import directly because it enjoys making things difficult. Q: It's lagging really bad, but why? A: You are probably playing a Black MIDI. If not, use the Turbowarp link below. If it's STILL lagging, get a better PC I guess. Q: Why isn't there any sound? A: You probably have your tab muted. If not, check your device's volume. If that is not it either, congratulations: you found a bug. Q: Why is the song playing very weirdly? A: Do not use the old converter meant for my old MIDI Player. Q: Why does the MIDI sound different here? A: Because Scratch has a limited set of instruments and drums, so the player maps General MIDI sounds to the closest Scratch sounds available. Q: Does it support Black MIDI? A: Any MIDI 1.0 file works, but it will lag a lot. So I do not recommend it unless you enjoy watching your computer think about every note it has ever heard. Q: Can it play Rush E? A: It's a MIDI player. Of COURSE it can play Rush E. Just not smoothly because then your computer is begging for Alt + F4. Q: Can it play Bad Apple? A: Rule 86 of the Internet: “If it exists, you can play Bad Apple on it. No exceptions.” This MIDI Player is no exception. For better performance, use this Turbowarp link: https://turbowarp.org/1386725116?turbo&stuck&fps=250&limitless If you REALLY want to play in Scratch, enable "Turbo mode" by shift-clicking the green flag. This can help, but it cannot perform miracles.
If you want to use my MIDI converter code or system for your own project, you may message me on my profile to ask for permission first. I would like that better. You must give clear credit to me in your project description. Uncredited copies of the converter software will be handled through Scratch's standard copyright/remixing guidelines. This rule strictly applies to the converter software and its custom parsing code, not the standard MIDI music files made by other people.
