I did all my chores at the speed of light Double-checking the rooms just to make sure they're right Rushing to dad to get back on the game But he’s staring at a screen and he’s whispering a name The words leave his mouth and the headsets go dead A digital static where the laughter was said I walk to my bedroom and I play it so cool Shutting the door as the tears start to pool Looking at an obituary just to see your face A brother I lost in the middle of space They say it's a tragedy, they say that it's tough But a name on a screen was more than enough We shared a middle name, a bloodline of choice And I’d give up the world just to hear your voice So tell me a joke while the world has fell Wiping the raid just to wish me well Putting mechanics and bosses aside Risking the wipe for a kid on the line You carried the weight till your heart couldn't take it Staring at fate, yeah we’re gonna make it I’m holding the gear that you crafted for me An echo of Ashfoot I still get to see Yeah, we’re living with Fait till the battery dies Looking up at the same open skies. So tell me a joke while the world has fell Wiping the raid just to wish me well Putting mechanics and bosses aside Risking the wipe for a kid on the line You carried the weight till your heart couldn't take it Staring at fate, yeah we’re gonna make it I’m holding the gear that you crafted for me An echo of Ashfoot I still get to see Yeah, we’re living with Fait till the battery dies Looking up at the same open skies. How can a bond grow this heavy and deep? For a person you only ever met in your sleep? No cameras, no pictures, just lines in the dark A spark in the static that left a real mark They can call it a game, they can say it's not real But they don't know the ache that I'm trying to heal... Still got the typos... Still got the gear. Max level Mage... I can still hear you clear. Yeah, we’re living with Fait. Ashfoot... I'll see you at the end mate.
Years ago, I had a friend through the screan, a brother if you will. His name was Joeseph P. Fait. But I knew him as Ashfoot, a max level Mage, an endgame raider and and PVP'er. In early 2020's he passed of Congestive Heart Failure. I was too young to understand the depth of our firendship but it pains me to think back on the day I found out he had gone. I remember waking up, I did my chores so fast I had to double check to make sure I actualy did them all. I went to my dad to ask to get online, he hadn't responded, he was reading his phone. Ashfoots wife had posted that he had passed. The worlds left my dads mouth and everyone on call went to silence. I calmly walked to my room, playing it cool. I closed the door and my heart sank and tears started to flow. He was my best friend at the time. He would be in the middle of an end game raid, where everyone is all serious and tryign to defete the boss, watching mechanics and all that, and he would see me log on and risk wiping the team (everyone having 0 health) just to tell me jokes. I still havent fixed the typos I made on the interview we did for a school project, and I have an item he crafted that will never be usefull to me ever again, it just takes up a slot in my inventory for eternity. Its hard to imagine how quick someone can be taken from you. How simple interactions without ever meeting someone can create a bond so strong. I never knew what he looked like, nor him me. It wasn't till I found his Obituary online. I've held this pain for years. I have my reasons. But I am finaly ready to let it out, and honor him. Died Dec 31 2021 at 12:31 PM at age 38 ( Dec 1 1983 - Dec 31 2021 ) I miss you dude. Rest in Peace.
