Short preview story (from chapter 3, page 7, paragraph 5) "I would never hurt him! What kind of monster do you think I am, Alora?!" Datura scoffed, her tail swishing back and forth in the garden's tall grass. " I never said anything about you being a monster; I'm worried about you!" Alora responded shyly, backing up a few steps from Datura as if she was afraid, she might hurt her. "See, you're scared of me; just admit it!" Datura yelled as dark green thorny vines started coming up around her on the ground. Alora's eyes filled with tears; she hated seeing her friend like this, but Alora couldn't forgive her after what she did. She lied to her best friend to protect the court of shadows. She killed Alora's only love just to save her spoiled little brother. "I'm leaving. I can't do this anymore." Alora took a deep breath and glanced over at her friend. Datura looked heartbroken, and her eyes were wild and bloodshot. Datura didn't even look like the same dragon Alora knew years ago. So, Alora spread her wings and flew without even looking back. "I'm so sorry, Alora. I did everything wrong. I don't deserve you." "I'm so very sorry."
