The algorithm starts by creating radiating lines of points that sweep around each dot. The pen size is proportional to the distance to the nearest dot (not necessarily the starting dot). Then two more distant points are picked to be sampled for each direction, resulting in distant points being sampled less often. When the points are not moving, the resolution increases. In full resolution, the strategy switches to a dispute settling algorithm that detects borders and samples a line along them with higher precision.
