/ what a waste of army dreamers. / (just a quick disclaimer, but this srp is the first of many to come and marks cobaltmyth's new arc! it delves into cobalt realizing that his youngest daughter has gone missing. he is currently very grief-stricken, and this srp is a little bit messy to mirror his frantic thoughts! after this, cobaltmyth will likely become really closed off from the clan and will neglect his duties to search for serenity!) - ----------------------------------------------------- - Dawn's early rays fluttered through the camp, bathing it in golden light. Cobalt quite enjoyed mornings such as these! He couldn’t sleep or rather, he didn’t want to! Most of the clan had retreated into their dens to slumber, of course, with a few stragglers remaining, all preparing to settle down. So it was tranquil, almost… Yet he couldn’t shake the thought that Serenity hadn’t attended her warrior ceremony… Well, he’d noticed her absence but had dismissed it as mere illness! But now, realization dawned on him: he hadn’t seen her for quite some time… Was she asleep in the warrior den? In a quick flurry of movement, he sprang from his resting spot and shifted toward the warrior den, quietly entering to scan the multitude of warriors. His suspicions were confirmed: Serenity was missing. Perhaps she had gone for an early morning stroll… yes, that made sense, but wouldn’t he have seen her leave, as he’d been out for quite a while. But if she wasn’t in ShadowClan, where could she be? Surely not the twoleg town… she wouldn’t leave… at least not like this. Not without a word to him… that wasn’t his Serenity… she was kind and sweet, almost like honey… Trudging out of camp, he began to pace faster, circling as his thoughts spiraled. What if she had been kidnapped, or perhaps she’d taken a stroll and fallen into a ditch? What if she was starving, hurt—and, even worse, he shouldn’t think it—dead? He didn’t know what he’d do if she died… he couldn’t live without her… without any of his kits. His paws carried him beyond ShadowClan camp and into their territory as he searched, searched, and searched, cowering behind every bush… every cave… every shadow that life had to offer. And she wasn’t there… no matter where he looked, she was absent… where could she be? WHERE COULD SHE BE?! Was the universe laughing at him? He’d prayed for something meaningful to unfold, but this wasn’t /MEANINGFUL/; this wasn’t what he wished for… he didn’t want to lose someone he loved again. It was a cruel jest; it had to be. He’d return to camp, and she would be waiting, asking him to tell a story… yes… but it was a lie. He always spun lies… was this punishment? Perhaps Sulfur had been right… his deceptions finally catching up to him. Tears streamed down his face as he stumbled, his voice choked with desperation, “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry… please bring her back… I’ve learned my lesson!” His knees buckled as he fell to the ground, crumpling beneath the weight of sorrow. “please… just bring her back.” - ----------------------------------------------------- - credits - Army Dreamers by Kate Bush Mentions Sulfuroblivion & Serenity(paw?)
