things were different now. it wasn't a bad change, no, not at all. but it was a change, and that was the most terrifying thing that had happened in the recent moons. her ma, retired. the strongest cat she knew. now spending her days in the elders den. taro wasn't mad that her ma wasn't leader, afterall, daybreak deserved it. she saw the gray on her ma's muzzle. she saw her ma slowing down. she saw everything that indicated her ma deserved to retire. but tarotrance wasn't quite ready to accept that. that daybreakstar was now daybreakdance. being an elder felt like her ma was slipping from her paws, that thought was terrifying. she didn't want to let daybreakdance go. she didn't want to see her ma as a new glimmer in the night sky. . . . honestly, what taro was doing was frankly embarrassing and kit like, and she knew that, but now, she needed to know her ma was still there. so she stood inside the elders den, staring at her ma's purple pelt slowly rising and falling, rising, and falling. tears welled up in the warriors eyes before dashing under her ma's front legs like she was a kit, cozying up to her warm fur. she held her breath, listening to daybreakdance's breathing and heartbeat. she was still there. that made her feel slightly better, but she was still...scared. slowly, taro was lulled to sleep, tears still rolling down her face. at least daybreakdance was there still. but what would she do when she was gone?
not back just wanted a taro reaction
