Rip Fatso. (and Bento) 545 assets (one sound) Fact: Fatso is a female cat, not male, against popular belief. In 1984, Charlie Schmidt filmed his cat, Fatso, in Spokane, Washington, with a baby shirt so he could hide his hands under the shirt to move her paws. Fatso passed away in 1987, and the tape sat in storage for decades. After YouTube became popular, Schmidt uploaded the original video in June 2007 titled "Cool Cat". In February 2009, video editor Brad O'Farrell added the cat clip to the end of a fail video (a man falling down an escalator), making it look like the cat was playing the clumsy person off a stage. And (of course) this went viral. Soon after, a new cat appeared, resembling Fatso, until his death in 2018. Rip Bento
