I have a theory. The 4th dimension in Minecraft has just been revealed. It's the sift, and it's where the portal in the deep dark leads to. The sift has new mobs and areas to explore, and reveals a lot of secrets we didn't know before. Where sniffers and wardens come from, what sculk is, all that stuff. But, if you take a close look at the sift, you'll notice that it kinda of looks like the warped forest from the nether. Coincidence? I think not. The sift seems to be calmer and more peaceful than the nether. It also very closely resembles the warped forest and other parts of the nether, as we've said. Here's my theory: maybe the nether is a ruined version of the sift. Who knows? Only Mojang. Put your theories in the comments if you have any.
