8/15/26 "It's plain, What's worse than no one understanding Is someone thinking that they do." You ran out of cereal so you bought some more The knots inside my stomach are the grains on the bottom As you stare At my swaying hair As I shut the door Does it all artificially click? You think you know me so well? I'd like to see you try untangling this knot on your own. Maybe you'll figure it out before I do It's true, you don't and you didn't Your reason wasn't quite it I would rather be certain That what you thought was impertinent Than overthinking if you truly care. I'm building thicker skin than you know I have As I scrub my eyes and fidget A chance to shove your face in something you don't understand Is insatiable All you do Is make things worse Because when you're close I have to plug my ears and Bit my tongue So I don't hurt the ones I love. I would much, much rather Be apathetic to every single person around me Than kick my shins so you don't see me. It's much, much worse If you try to understand I wonder as I wander If it's get better if I allowed myself to erupt And claw my skin And scream till nothing but a wall of ringing rises I feel a lurch in my throat that begs to be released But I don't want to admit I'm terrified Of the beast inside You say I'm to young to be tired I'm struck by a wave of isolation I feel When even my best friend cannot prove that Im real I'm dizzy 'Cause no one's looking out for me I can't trust the ones who say I can I hug my knees tightly and treasure the safety Of being alone But the silence is everywhere Even with others Even with me Perhaps the highest volume on my headphones Is my only place of safety Everyone says no one understands This time I suppose that's truly true There is one thing really worse Than no one understanding It's the people that think they do That make it that much worse.
Constructive criticism is always appreciated!
