The photograph was supposedly taken in the summer of 1999, only a few weeks before the school reopened for the fall semester. Nobody remembers who took it. At first glance, it was completely ordinary: an empty field, the school building in the distance, trees surrounding the property. But when the photograph was developed, there was something standing behind the school. Something that wasn't there when the picture was taken. It was impossibly tall—taller than the building itself. Its body was thin enough to disappear between the trees, and its arms hung almost to the ground. Two small points of light could be seen where its eyes should have been. The school administration dismissed it as a strange shadow. Then students began reporting that they could see someone standing behind the school after sunset. Teachers started locking the back doors. Then, one October evening, a student named Daniel stayed late for football practice. His friends saw him leave through the front entrance at around 6:40 PM. He never made it home. Security footage showed Daniel walking across the field. Then he stopped. He appeared to look toward the trees. And, according to the single surviving frame of footage, something extremely tall was standing behind the school. Daniel was never found. The school closed shortly afterward.
