Big day today! Two of our spring foals, and the og foals here at DME, are now all done with getting broken in, and are ready for riding! This is a very special day, as these are the foals we've seen grow up, develop, and take milestones. I had Callie around to help me, and she was great! Tacking up was a little tough for Blossom, but she made it through, and was a very grown up girl about it. Sparky, on the other hand, did not really pay attention, as he was half asleep, and we had woken him from his little midday nap. We headed into the indoor, to have less distractions, noises, and basically anything that's not not scary (if that makes sense). As soon as I got on, after putting weight and everything, Blossom was a little bit more forward than I expected, but that will most likely calm down as she gets more used to it, and gets more into the job. Callie got on Sparky just fine, and he was still really lazy, so he didn't even seem to notice someone was on his back. After about 20 mins of walking, I started to take it up a notch and trot. Obviously, it took a second, but she understood eventually, and had a pretty smooth transition actually haha! Sparky was a little less responsive, probably because he was lazy today, but eventually, once he got into it, he was pretty responsive and alert. When Callie gave a little leg, he actually stepped up into a canter, so she cantered a stride or two, and made him break, which he did nicely. Overall, i'm absolutely over the moon with these little guys, and they are going to make top eventers when they get older. ?
