Hey guys! R4 here. Waketaa has made a public statement earlier today, where they said they wish for all Fan-Made Ginos to no longer be used. With RP accounts needing to be deactivated. This of course, means the end of Larpno. So I wanted to make one last post before leaving. Larpno never really started as a character. They were a parody of Larp accounts on YouTube that would make similar content to what they were based on. And I thought it would be fun to do it with a scratcher. So they weren’t an alternate Gino, they were an alternate Waketaa. Of course, Larpno has long since left that as a character. Before the lawsuit arc, Larpno was at a weird point. I didn’t really know what to do with them. So I thought it could be fun to have a joke arc where they sue Gino for not including them, as well as a joke hashtag. This was both a great and terrible decision. Great because it helped flesh them out as a character. But terrible since it led to a lot of people asking Gino to make them “canon.” …To a sona. I genuinely regret that. Of course, this isn’t the case now, but the Justice4Larpno movement got kind of out of hand. I didn’t expect it to get as big as it did. I feel really bad for causing so much of a ruckus for a literal parody. After the arc ended, Larpno was at another weird point. Their story was over. And it would be wrong to just do another one. Since then it would probably encourage others to do the same, for something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Of course, I’m not trying to say Larpno was a mistake. People love them. Even Gino warmed up to them. But by making them, people started to viewed Gino as less of a sona, and more as something they could copy and play with. Like they were now anyone’s sona. Which was not okay. I know I’ve been harping on about the morality of their existence, but it’d be rude to not at least bring it up. it is best we keep fanon characters as fanon and not try to force them to be more. I’m not downplaying OCs, but we were pushing Gino into a corner. And that’s unacceptable. Even if it started as a joke. Anyway, Larpno was a very fun character to write. They were just…Larpno! They unintentionally ended up kind of being an anti-Gino. With campy expressions and silly decisions. But a grumpy old man then a teenage demi-girl. Which was fun to play off of. And people clearly agreed. Since they’re probably the most popular Gino outside of the sona themselves. They have a lot in common with Barry (My Cynthia OC) now that I think about it. Both started as moreso concepts then characters, but overtime became completely different and inspired a whole new wave of characters for people to express themselves onto. Larpno was a very fun character. In a lot of ways. They really let me embrace that silly side of my brain. I think I’ve been talking for long enough. I want to end with one last message. Larpno kind of encapsulated the essence of scratch in a way. Good and bad. People could do anything with them, They were, while simple, a sandbox that could do anything people pleased. And while I am a little sad that they can no longer be used, I fully respect Gino’s choice. Remember: don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened at all. Goodbye everyone. -
