CW: fictional death and murder and described below, skip to N + C if u dont wanna read it Zodiac laid her head down on the roots of a tree. The gentle song of birds and patter of rodents' paws as they stocked their acorns for leafbare filled her ears. She was glad she wasn't on rocks, glad there were no seagulls overhead, and the sound of the ocean was one she would never hear again. She could almost lie here forever. Xey had to admit it wasn't all pleasant. For starters, red gashes covered her body, wounds still not yet healed. And even unrelated to those, her joints now ached when she moved. It was easier to stay here, let blood soak in to the moss. She wouldn't have to clean up after herself, unlike if it was her nest in camp. Bloodied bedding had to be replaced by her, but in the unclaimed territories the entire world was her belongings, and she could simply leave and find a new place to sleep if it became too soiled. But for now, they could just lie here. Usually she'd had needed to get up to hunt by now, but they'd been feeling less hungry recently. Mostly they just drank water now. In fact, she felt rather thirsty. But she didn't stir, preffering just to lie there. The moss felt softer than anything. Rowan, the carrion crow, poked her. They seemed to sense xeir condition, and apparent laziness. Yet, Zoe didn't react at all to her companion's probing, and simply shut xeir eyes. Starfruit scurried across xeir body, but he didn't respond to hymn either. Zodiac felt a sudden weight on xeir chest. Not like a paw or even the pressure of stress or guilt. Just weight, like her body was caving in on itself. She gasped for air, fighting the invisible force that was suffocating her. But you can't fight yourself. Their breathing, after several minutes, slowed. They couldn't move if they tried. They shut their eyes, their heart stopped. No injury or cat had taken her life. She passed away peacefully as a feline like her could. At her birthplace, alone but with the Earth. Their eyes again opened in the familiar crimson forest, feeling in her chest gone. All the feelings were gone, at least temporarily. The wounds, the aches, all of it. He laid there for a while, still on darkened, gnarled tree roots. Cats crowded xem, but he didn't respond. She didn't understand what had just happened, but all she cared about at that moment was that xey wanted to sleep. They'd deal with all of this when they got up, but he only wanted to return home right now. ERP for clarification: Zodiac died from fatigue/dehydration caused by kidney failure.

Now for my current feelings/ramble: Honestly I'm relieved that Zodiac is dead, I've been considering killing her off since she was apprentice aged LOL, and she's just never seemed to die even when I wanted her to. I will be taking a small break from gens, as I usually do after my characters die. However, unlike when Squidsplash died, it's not out of anger or anything. Zodiac genuinely could not have had a cooler life and better lore, even though it never went exactly as I expected. I'm glad that her story got the resolution it did. I want my next character to be some sort of high rank, but I definitely need to rest before then to get my motivation up lol. and zodiac has taught me that i can still have fun even if they arent one. See yall next time ! song is Paper Dolls by Stomach Book
