Loon is natrualy quiet, but sometimes its because she cant find it in her to speak. Selective mutism is when somebody sometimes gets so anxious that they find it difficult or impossible to speak. It is NOT being shy or timid (although loon is shy and timid), but instead being unable to speak even if wanted to. SM is an anxiety disorder, usually showing up in early childhood especially when a child starts going to school. for loo, itll start around 2-4 moons old. It is called selective mutism because only in certain situations, NOT because they chose to do so! SM can cause (things that will personally affect loon with have an astrex.) -avoiding social situations* -speak as little as possible* or not at all - respond without words* -mumble/whisper/speak quitetly* (only the quietly one!) -freeze up or hide* (loon will crawl into safe spaces and sometimes hide behind those they trust.) -act out when anxious he will adorn a blank expression, though this iss partaily just because he doesnt show things through his face alot. he also avoids eye contact, she does this anyway but exspecaily when anxious. they also will nod or make gestures or make noises to communicate instead of lets say saying yes they will nod or go "mhm!". he also might 'shut down.' this includes becoming unresponsive or barely responsive, and being in their own head. she likely will begin to fidget or stim excessivly and look around the area. the places where loo will feel most comfortable speaking: when alone with family or other trusted cats. when in small, enclosed areas with cats she trust. this will severly effect her life during training, crowed areas, and unfamiliar places. this is also related to his other anxiety disorders. it is found that most people with SM have other anxiety disorders, especially social anxiety. social anxiety disorder, or social phobia, is an anxiety disorder in which somebody feels anxious in day-to-day life due to fear of being judged, scrutinized, or watched by others.
