To allow anyone to eventually bring back characters that were left behind, if they would like to. (I know I do!) The Dead Crusher in Sky Islands begin rebuilding itself with nanites and has an idea to mess up the Rexiom offensive towards the west. The Crusher in Omega's Supercore repairs itself.
