So. I know I'm a Southern Flying Squirrel, but I've been struggling with that part of my identity. Here are the facts: - I identify as a Southern Flying Squirrel. - I had a past life as a Southern Flying Squirrel - I don't think I had a past life as any other type of squirrel. - I am, in no way, a Northern Flying Squirrel. - I sort of identify as all other types of squirrels. When I look at a Red Squirrel or a Black Squirrel, I feel a sense of joy. I think, consciously, 'my cousin!', because I'm a Southern Flying Squirrel. But at the same time, I think subconsciously, 'I'm a squirrel, that's a squirrel, just like me!'. Referring to myself as a Southern Flying Squirrel feels right. Northern is just infinity percent wrong. But just saying 'squirrel' to refer to myself feels right somehow, and other types of squirrels? Their names fit me too. I feel like, at the same time, I am a Southern Flying Squirrel and just straight up 'squirrel' with no species to define me. This would be explained easily, with 'a squirrel clado, closer to a Southern Flying Squirrel'... Except that I don't fit the clade requirements. To be a cladotherian, you need to identify as all the animals that were in, are in, and will be in the clade. I do, except for one problem: I'm not a Northern Flying Squirrel. Is there a term for this? Someone who identifies as all animals in a clade except one?
