The Games Of The Gods Intro: My heart stopped beating at exactly 3:47 p.m. the first Friday of sophomore year. His body lay there, lifeless, broken, and wrong in a way I couldn’t understand. His eyes, once so bright and blue, were cloudy and dull. The warmth of his chocolate-brown skin was already fading. His favorite shirt, the one with blue and yellow stripes, was stained crimson. A note is in his pocket, For the eyes of Nyxetta Woods only I lift it up and shove it in my pocket, my hands still shaking. It may not have really been my heart stopping… but it felt like it. Leaning down, I kissed his cold face, feeling the final goodbye between us hit harder than it should have. A warm tear ran down my cheek while I watched the paramedics carry him away from me. Aureon Vale was not your average fifteen-year-old. I mean, sure, his grades were terrible, but grades don’t really matter when you are the son of Apollo. But none of that matters now. I don’t know the exact moment everything went wrong, all I know is that before 3:47 on Friday, Aureon was alive. Before that moment, I had a life. Not a good one. Not a normal one. But a life that made sense in its own broken way. And if I’m going to explain what happened to him… I have to start at the beginning.
