Oh No! Holly Chang: A Harry Potter Fanfic By @RowenaRavenclaw51 Based on the books by J.K.Rowling And the play by Jack Thorne, John Tiffany and J.K.Rowling Chapter 5: I took a step towards the shop. And then another. Then suddenly, time sped up and I was in front of the door in a few seconds. A bell rang somewhere in the depths of the store as I entered. Professor McGonnagall took a seat on a spindly chair that looked like it had been broken years ago. " Ah, I've been expecting you, Miss. Chang." A voice jerked me from my thoughts. "I am Mr. Ollivander." A tape measure started measuring around my waist. "Try this wand, Ash, unicorn hair, 12 and a half inches long. Nice and supple." I took the wand and gave it a wave. A second later, Mr. Ollivander snatched the wand back. "Oh, no! Miss. Chang, look! That's not the one for you!" I'd accidentally knocked many wands off a faraway shelf. "Try this one. Oak, unicorn hair 9 and a quarter inches. Good wand for transfiguration." I gave the wand a wave. Literally nothing happened. Mr. Ollivander took the wand off me and handed me another one. This one felt comfortable in my hand but looked strange. I gave it a cautious wave. A stream of warm sparks flew out of the end. "Yes! That's the one!" cried Mr. Ollivander. But as he packaged the wand up he muttered "Strange. Curiously strange." I couldn't help myself. "What's strange?" I asked. "What's strange is that this wand was designed as part of a new ahem * experimental * range. It was to stop the fault of the twin cores. This was the first wand of that range in our shop. The twin cores were useful in the war but are starting to raise complaints with customers who want to be able to duel everybody. The ingredients for this wand were phoenix flame and birch. It is twelve inches long. Note phoenix FLAME which has never been used in a wand before. The wand arrived in our shop today and must be really drawn to you if it wants to choose so early. My father always used to say 'the wand chooses the wizard.' Anyway, if you experience any problems, send me an owl." I was slightly taken aback by this monologue. Even Professor McGonnagal look surprised. I took the wand, clung to her arm and was taken, once more into the ever-expanding darkness.
