Before we get started, just know that this is not targeted at any individual. I just wanted to share something with y’all that I learned, in the hopes that it’ll help someone. I been doing a lot of learning during my time away from Scratch, and one of the things that I was so graciously able to learn, is to NEVER let your insecurities control you. Trust me, this has happened to me multiple times, and you know what happened in the process? I lost multiple friends. This has happened many times, on many different occasions. I get so insecure about myself, to the point where I get jealous, especially when it comes to certain friends of mine, and those insecurities have made me act out of character, and do things that have hurt people that are close to my heart. It is one of my biggest mistakes ever, and I feel really bad for people I have hurt because I got so insecure, that I decided to act out. As stated before, this has happened multiple times, on multiple occasions, throughout different years. If only I wasn’t so insecure about myself, then I’d probably not do some of the things I did when I did them, and certain friends that I lost due to my own insecurities, would probably still be cool with me. To whoever reads this, I really need you to heed my warning. If you feel insecure about something, especially if it has to do with someone you love, whether it be family, or one of your friends, make sure to talk to them about how your feeling, and even directly tell them that you feel insecure if necessary. If you ever feel insecure like that, and feel like your presence in their life isn’t enough, like I have felt multiple times, please talk to them about it, and ask them if you are enough for them, and if they appreciate your presence. This is advice I needed a long time ago, but I never exactly got it, so I am sharing this with all of you so you know something that I never knew before. Always make sure that if you feel insecure about if your friend sees value in you, or appreciates you, or likes to be around you, please ask them about it. If they tell you they value you, you oughta listen, because more than likely, they will be 100% honest with you. I know that some of us want to be the world to some of our friends, and believe me, I know, because I have had people who I wanted to mean everything to them, and I have felt this way with many people, but it’s okay if you’re not number one in their life. You don’t have to feel bad because they don’t see you as the best, because if you let that bother you, it’ll eat you up, and make you act out, and again, I’d know, because I have done said things due to not being certain people’s number one, although they did see me as very valuable. Just as long as they make it known that they love you, and care about you, then you don’t have to overthink if you are enough for them, or the best to them, because they already made it clear that you are special to them, and that should be something that makes you happy! Sometimes, you don’t have to be the best in a person’s life, but rather, just show up for them, and be a version of yourself that everyone enjoys, and genuinely wants to be around. You have to understand that people get busy too, so just because they don’t talk to you 24/7 or don’t reply to your message right away, doesn’t mean they don’t like you, or hate you, it just means that they have things in their life that take up their time, whether they like it or not, and they have to focus on that a bit more. That DOES NOT take any value away from you, however. It just means that person is busy. Life has so much being thrown at us, from every direction, so don’t feel insecure when someone you love doesn’t respond right away. Sometimes, you can’t blame them, and should try to understand that they are busy, and have to focus on their life. You too, should make it a point to focus on your own life, and what you got going on, and understand that time away from your best friend isn’t always a bad thing, but sometimes, it’s necessary. Time away from your best friend can make them miss you, and want to spend time with you that much more! Don’t ever underestimate the power of time away from your friends. It can genuinely sharpen you guys love for each other, and make the time you spend with them, that much more fulfilling. Understand that if someone loves you, and they not just say it, but do everything in their power to show it to you, then you should know that they love you, and don’t have to be insecure about if you’re doing enough or not, and do everything in your power to avoid being jealous of their other friends too, because that can cause friction, and make everyone uncomfortable. Just understand that you are loved by them, and do not have to overthink if you are truly loved by them, or not.
I completely understand that love has so many emotions tied to it, and it’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough for the person you love, but if you just simply ask them if you’re enough, and they tell you that you are, then you need to accept their answer as the truth. Most people would not lie about something like that, especially if they know how emotionally invested you are, so it’s best to believe what they are saying is truth, and not overthink anything. Overthinking can also ruin friendships, along with insecurities. Overthinking and insecurities go hand in hand, so make sure to avoid them at all costs!
