I step to the side when the world starts to to clash. Don’t run for cover, Don't fear the ash. They built me for war, my hands made of stone. But I’m tired of standing guard all alone. I keep people safe, keep the beast on a chain. But my shadow is heavy, it’s flooded with rain. I’m keeping my distance, I’m playing it slow. I can't let you see what is hiding below. No sudden changes, no secrets to start. I need to be certain before we’re apart. I. want. love. but I’m falling apart. You're amazing. It’s clouding my heart. I’m a monster who’s hiding his might. But I’m wrapped in scars of a permanent night. My godness is the threads you hold. If they hurt you, I'm going to blow. Yeah, I’m holding my breath, just a step from the dark. Waiting for certain to give you the spark. I’ve made my mistakes in lives I lived first. Rushed into fires and i've died of the thirst. So I’m learning rhythm, the way that you speak. Before I show variables making me weak. I’m a problematic soul with a dangerous pace. Just trying to find where I fit in your grace.
