A woman with an apron curiously asked after spotting a plate that held an un-eaten blueberry pancake on top. The morning sunshine shone through the window, on to the newspaper the other woman was holding. "You see, Deeler", the other woman said, sipping a warm cup of coffee, "I received a report about murder in the Huckleberry Street last night." Deeler was uncertain what the woman was explaining. "But, murder cases are common throughout these days. Not a single newspaper has a page without a case in them, Ms. Lin." "Those cases are petty. Most of them were murdered because they were wandering around the streets of the suburb at midnight. What a hideous mind do they have. They clearly do not feel the sinister and aloof atmosphere in a midnight suburb." Lin folded her newspaper and handed it to Deeler. "Mind if you read the bold headlines on the front page?" "Murder of mayor's millionaire daughter, Chloe Gwen found at Huckleberry Street." Deeler was bewildered. "This certainly has to be a mistake. She carries a billion bodyguards everywhere she goes. And I see, this case was a poison murder. Doesn't she have a taste taster before she eats a meal?" "Yes, Stephanie. However, she was the only one who got poisoned by a cup of water. The most surprising thing, nonetheless, is that I got a request from the mayor's wife to solve this enigma. I don't know if I should give an affirmative response to her, for, it's a big responsibility." "Oh ma'm, you are very celebrated by the mayor's family. You haven't solved a case in decades. Take this opportunity and don't disappoint the Gwens. If you're not, I'm taking it regardless of how long this case will last." Deeler crossed her arms and pointed her eyebrows up. "Oh well. I booked a taxi that will bring us to the Huckleberry Street at 8. Pack up your bags, Deeler. Eloise Gwen has somewhat saved up a 'stupendous' room for us." >Chapter 2. Pile of black tissues "This is it. Here, sir. The 5th house on the right of Huckleberry Street." The taxi parked next to a sidewalk of a massive, black mansion. "Holy, the house is surely ineffable to describe. Neither is it giving fervor to us." The two women got out of the taxi and encountered a tall black gate with sharp spikes on top. Above the spikes was a mega speaker and CCTV cameras pointing at the two women. "Hands up!" A voice vibrated the speaker as it detected Lin and Deeler. ~~~~~ "Fliondra! Please come up and clean this pile of-" Eloise Gwen had nothing to do but stay in her messy bed. Beside her was a pile of tissues that were stained with black liquid. She did not even budge to do her morning routine. She had dark circles drooping down her eyes and dry tears surrounding her cheeks. The once demure lady with diffidence became a contemptible woman in her 50s. She was numb and did not feel like doing anything until a woman came. No, 'the woman' was not her maid, Fliondra. It was an intelligent detective that was once famous for solving murder cases back in her old days. Ingenuous Fliondra cleaned the tissue mess and left the room, afraid her boss would yell at her. "Mrs. Gwen, there is a visitor waiting for you outside the gate!" "Just kick-"Elosie mumbled. "Lin." Eloise stumbled as she got out of her bed and changed into a wrinkled red dress. She tripped her foot as she went down the stairs but managed to hold her balance. There were two women with luggages behind the black gate. >Chapter 3. Under the Bookshelf "So, where is the dead body? And how come there are stains of dry blood on the floor when Ms. Gwen was poisoned, not stabbed?" Lin asked as she examined blood stains on the kitchen's white carpet. "It disappoints me that I haven't explained the situation to you yet. The case happened 2 nights before at sometime around 12 P.M. Mr. Gwen and I were obviously asleep, for, we go to bed before 9. My staff members including the chef, maid, and gardeners left the house at 7 P.M right after dinner. We are assuming that Chloe got thirsty and drank a glass of poisoned water during the night since she has no wounds or blood on her body." Eloise handed her a plastic bag filled with shattered glass and droplets of water. "This was the glass she used to drink water. The most confusing fact was that I drank the same water at dinner and didn't get poisoned. The next morning, I came to the kitchen for some coffee and found her unconscious body that had no wounds but blood droplets over her. I suspected that something abysmal had happened." Next chapters :
