In The Wasteland, there is a hierarchy. The Septs are of a thralldom. What is that, you may ask? They take slaves. But these slaves are actually well taken care of. So. There are six Septs. The Fangs are the leaders. They are the ones with poison in their fangs. They act as the royal family. They control all of the Flax (Linum usitatissimum) Flax is the only plant that has survived the dead air, and they are high in the nutrients the fauna of The Wastelands need. The Matatabi are below The Fangs. They are the ones with two tails and blade-sharp talon-like claws. They are the only group who can get half as much Flax as The Fangs without being enslaved. They act as nobility. The Kaijus are below the Matatabi. They are large but lack fur. Their larger bodies make them able to blunt-force other cats. They are only able to access the Flax while being enslaved by the Matatabi or the Fangs. They act as guards. The Pigmies are the ones who are smaller than normal but have thick fur. They shed a lot, and are usually enslaved for their shed fur that is given to the Kaijus. They are well fed and taken care of. They are technically livestock, but they're also considered nobility (like Barons). The Foragers are the ones born to lose their eyesight. They have horns that curl out of their eyesockets. These horns usually protrude when they are 5-6 weeks old. They blind the Forager. They are born naturally with low eyesight because of this. Their ears and noses and paws have more receptors than their eyes do. Some are born without these horns, but still lose their eyesight by 5-6 weeks. They act as gatherers for herbs/food. They are usually enslaved for their abilities. They are only able to access the Flax while being enslaved by Matatabis, Kaijus, or Fangs. The Nightwalkers are the lowest class. They are the ones who are born without shadows, the one as black as night, their eyes as white as starlight. They are the commoners. The working class. They have many teeth and many claws, their tails as long as whips. They are enslaved by every other Sept to do everything. Gather the fur from the Pygmies, use it to make warmers for the Kaijus, harvest the Flax, ect. They get the littlest amount of Flax, but one is enough to last a Nightwalker half a year.
This is the caste system of The City Lights. The Septs are in hierarchy from highest to lowest.
