They were actually planning to take back Verde Harbor before this. Nevertheless, the CMF managed to organise a counter-attack, 3 armored gunboats were deployed to take down the landing craft and damage the Machete. Out of the 50 landing craft, 15 were sunk before the Machete began firing on the armored gunboats. They were forced to retreat back to harbor.
