The Mist's Light (My Oc's Story) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The forest was silent. Mistshade crouched low beneath the trees. Three enemy cats were searching the clearing. "Where did she go?" "She was right here!" Mistshade slowly stepped backward. Fog curled around her paws. Her blue-gray fur began to fade into the mist. One of the cats suddenly looked toward her. Two different-colored eyes stared back through the fog. Then— nothing. Mistshade had disappeared. The cats frantically searched the clearing. A sudden movement came from behind them. They spun around. Mistshade stood there. Calm. Silent. Ready. She had been in the mist the entire time. She can: - Become extremely difficult to see in fog - Move almost completely silently - See through mist better than other cats - Surprise enemies from the fog - Escape by disappearing into thick mist - Track scents through fog - Stay hidden longer when the mist is thick Her limits: She can't create mist She needs natural fog or mist already present She can't use the ability in clear weather She can't teleport Staying hidden for too long makes her tired and disoriented When she disappears, her two different-colored eyes can sometimes be the last thing visible through the fog. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Her Three Scars: Nose Scar When Mist'shade was an apprentice, she and her mentor encountered a rogue attacking a younger cat. Mist'shade distracted the rogue long enough for the younger cat to escape, but the rogue's claws caught her across the nose. She still carries the scar. Torso Scar During a battle, Mist'shade noticed an enemy trying to sneak toward the ThunderClan medicine cat. She intercepted them and protected the medicine cat, but she was struck across her torso. She recovered and returned to patrol duty once she was healed. Tail Scar This is the scar that changed her life. As an apprentice, Mist'shade was being chased through the forest by an enemy cat. She ran into a thick patch of fog she'd never encountered before. Suddenly, her paws seemed to fade into the mist. The enemy caught her tail and scratched it before Mist'shade completely disappeared. The enemy searched for her but couldn't find her. Mist'shade eventually escaped and returned to ThunderClan. That's when she realized she'd discovered her strange ability. Her tail scar has remained ever since—a reminder of the first time she vanished into the mist... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mentor — Bracken'storm Bracken'storm was an experienced ThunderClan warrior who taught Mist'shade how to fight using strategy instead of strength. His biggest lesson to her was: "A battle isn't won by the strongest cat. It's won by the cat who thinks first." Mist'shade still remembers those words whenever she has to make a difficult decision. Apprentice — Dapple'paw Dapple'paw is basically Mist'shade's complete opposite. Personality: - Loud - Energetic - Curious - Impulsive - Constantly asking questions Mist'shade is calm and quiet. Dapple'paw is... Dapple'paw. Mist'shade often just says: "Dapple'paw." And Dapple'paw immediately knows they're in trouble. Despite this, Mist'shade secretly cares a LOT about her apprentice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------How She Became Deputy Mist'shade never originally wanted to become deputy. She preferred hunting, patrolling, and quietly helping the Clan. During a particularly difficult leaf-bare, ThunderClan began struggling to find prey. Mist'shade noticed that prey were avoiding certain parts of the territory. Instead of rushing in, she studied the area and discovered a predator was driving the prey away. She created a plan using multiple patrols to carefully push the predator away from the hunting grounds. Her strategy worked. ThunderClan recovered its hunting territory, and the Clan leader realized that Mist'shade had exactly the qualities needed in a deputy. She was chosen.
