(click or space to advance, but i recommend reading the desc first and clicking when it says to) if you want to make lots of units quickly, trading is a decent option. i’ll probably write a guide on other methods for making money sometime soon, but for now, here is a beginner’s guide (at least i hope so) for trading. first, i recommend you get an economy scanner if you don’t already have one. then, go into the galaxy map and find a system with a three star economy (see img. 1). if you want to, you can look at the “sell” and “buy” numbers by pressing the r key. idk what it is for consoles, but it’ll tell you. since this will be the system you buy from, look at the “buy” number, and go to the lowest number you can find. like i said though, it’s probably not the most important detail, so don’t worry about it too much. as you can see, i accidentally chose to buy at a system better for selling and sold at one better for buying lol. but what’s most important is the economy type, so keep that in mind. once you’ve warped to the system, you’ll want to find a trade outpost, since they are better for this than space stations. while in your starship, open the quick menu and find the economy scanner. two options will appear (see img. 2). you can do both of these, but i usually only look for a trade outpost. if you click the second option, a mission will appear in your mission log (see img. 3). you can do this mission, but i usually go with a slightly different method. (you can skip this part if you want. it wasn’t necessary anyway, but i realized it’s even more unnecessary than i thought. you’ll see why js keep reading lol) when you arrive at a trade outpost, put a base computer down and claim it (see img. 4). i recommend also making a teleporter, biofuel reactor, and obviously a wire to connect the two. now that you have a base, buy as many trade goods from the terminal as you can (see img. 5). after this, find a system to sell to. make sure the system you’re selling to is the right type! see img. 6 for a guide on what trade goods are best for selling to which economy types. you can see in img. 7 i’ve warped to a three star manufacturing system, since i have trade goods from a mining system. repeat the process from steps two, three, and four (finding a trade outpost, making a base in one, and selling the trade goods). once you have your two trade bases, you can warp between them to continue buying and selling. there’s one thing i completely forgot about until now though. once you buy all the trade goods from one place, you’ll have to wait a bit until they all come back. i don’t think reloading will speed this up, but you can try. if it doesn’t work, ig just keep doing this in other systems (probably without the base making to save time) or wait a bit. i don’t think it’s a very long timer, but idk i could be wrong. yeah that’s how to trade in no man’s sky
if you have any questions, or want to point out any errors, just lmk in the comments briefly, other ways of making units in nms are: ship scrapping, frigate expeditions, making expensive items and selling them, exploring derelict freighters, setting up those mining things on mineral hotspots and selling the stuff, and probably more
