Fay, Lily, and Hugo stood on the beach, gazing up at the sky. The owls carrying letters from Hogwarts were due to arrive any moment. Then Fay spotted three owls approaching, letters clutched in their talons. As the owls drew closer, they landed, set down the letters, and flew off again. The three of them picked up their letters and opened them. Fay began reading immediately. Then Hugo said, "The letters are finally here! Now we can finally go to Diagon Alley!" Fay and Lily were delighted, too. They ran over to their parents, and Ginny said, "That’s great. We can go to Diagon Alley first thing tomorrow!" Everyone was excited. Afterward, they had some cake. That evening, Fay, Lily, and Rose went to the bathroom and brushed their teeth together. Then they went to Fay’s room and got into their sleeping bags. Before that, however, Fay had washed Bramble the ferret and placed him in his basket next to her bed. The boys all had to sleep together in their sleeping bags in the guest room, while the adults shared the living room. Fay was looking forward to the next day. They would finally be going to Diagon Alley to buy their Hogwarts supplies. Although Fay already had an owl, she was still going along to Diagon Alley the next day.
