Hey guys, so I've been asked and asked over and over, 'do you really not believe in God?' 'Do you hate Christians?' 'Do you believe in a different religion?' 'Why are you atheist?' Here to explain a couple things I grew up in a religious household. But I was confused. How could a God exist when no one had seen him? That was the one question nobody could answer for me. They brushed it off and said 'He just does' or something along the lines. I did not decide to 'become' atheist, I simply had doubts from the beginning. Do I hate Christians/other religions? Absolutely not. Religion is NOT a reason to hate a person, and if you do hate certain people because they have another religion or don't have a religion, I think that's wrong. Actions define a person, not what they believe. I respect you and your religion. Do I have no morals? I don't need scripture to have a sense of right and wrong. The fact that a person genuinely though I was a terrible person simply because I have never read the Bible, and didn't know the Ten Commandments. The myth that atheists have no morals is ludicrous. I don't need anyone to tell me right and wrong to know that certain things are horrible things to do. I have been told that I 'can't be atheist' I live in the United States I have freedom of religion You cannot tell me what to believe. You can inform me of things, and I may change my views But you cannot force me to believe in something. 'You're just angry at God.' I am not. I have had bad experiences with church, but I cannot be upset at someone whom I believe does not exist. 'You worship false Gods.' I cannot worship that in which I do not believe. 'You don't understand faith' Not true I can have faith in a person, therefore I do. 'Atheists don't learn about religion' Inaccurate I have researched several different religions Talked to people who believe in different Gods. It honestly sounds like religion is a sweet deal. But that's a deal I cannot take. 'Atheists can't explain miracles' I can right here and right now. You are a miracle. It is often estimated that there is a 1 in 400 trillion that any one person exists. Hence, you are a miracle. 'Atheists want to ban religion' That may be some people's beliefs I think that it is utterly stupid that someone would want to make it so that someone can't believe in what they believe in. 'Atheists want to ban teaching religion to children' I do not. I just think that you shouldn't shove it down their throats and make it so that that's all they've ever known. You are allowed to talk to children about religion. I believe you shouldn't be allowed to force them to believe in any one thing. 'Trans people aren't valid because they're trying to change who God made them.' Everyone is valid. Do not let anyone tell you you aren't. And if 'God's plan' is real, then aren't they following it? 'Atheists are going to hell' I have been quite rude to people who have said that to me in the past. Once I replied 'See you there' If God is truly fair, should I be eternally tortured because I didn't believe? If I had been a good, moral person all my life And tried to return every bit of good that had been done for me And a little more And I was sentenced to eternal torture because I didn't believe. I think that would be unfair, would it not? Every bit of good you do should not be worried about. Just try to do all the good you can. Our world needs it.
