13 September 2028 Following several days of increasingly hostile debate over the situation in Karakia, the Federal Parliament of Väldurenmaa formally approved the deployment of regular Bundeshëer forces to the country on 13 September 2028. The decision represented a major expansion of Väldurenmaa’s involvement in the crisis. Until this point, direct operations inside Karakia had primarily been carried out by the Väldurisk Frivilliglegion under Operation SPRUCE, while regular federal armed forces remained outside the conflict. The new authorization gave the federal government permission to deploy Bundeshëer formations separately from the VFL operation. The parliamentary debate preceding the vote was exceptionally heated. Proponents argued that the storming of the Väldurisk Embassy, the murder and hostage-taking of Väldurisk personnel, and the worsening security situation justified the deployment of regular forces. Opponents warned that the government was allowing what had begun as a limited emergency response to develop into a much larger and potentially open-ended intervention, while also raising concerns over the lives of Väldurisk personnel and the financial cost of a prolonged deployment. The dispute eventually moved beyond shouting. During one particularly hostile exchange, a physical brawl broke out between several members of Parliament, forcing parliamentary security and other deputies to intervene and separate those involved. The incident rapidly became one of the most widely discussed moments of the debate and highlighted just how divisive further military involvement in Karakia had become. Despite the disorder and political opposition, the authorization ultimately passed with a large majority of parliamentary support. The government later confirmed that the deployment would have a strong mechanized focus. The 23. Bundesmechanisierte Jägerbrigade Südgau and 25. Bundesinfanteriebrigade Rheinwald were selected for deployment in their entirety, forming the principal regular combat component of the intervention. They would be supported by detachments from the 20. Bundespionierbrigade Ostmark, 13. Bundesinstandsetzungsbrigade Westmark, 11. Bundesunterstützungsbrigade Hochstadt, and 34. Bundesmedizinbrigade Nordkamm, providing engineering, maintenance, recovery, logistics, transport, and medical support. Officials deliberately released few details regarding the force’s equipment, overall strength, deployment schedule, routes, or intended points of entry, citing operational security. Existing Väldurisk facilities and allied infrastructure in Irakeh were expected to support the deployment, but further information was withheld from the public. The parliamentary vote did not place the Bundeshëer under Operation SPRUCE. SPRUCE remained a VFL operation, while the regular Bundeshëer deployment represented a separate expansion of Väldurenmaa’s military involvement in Karakia.
