Tons of people have come to me, Benson, or Benny, Smith, for help over the years. Torres came for help regarding her identity (although she came looking for my sibling, Samuel), Anderson came for help with math on multiple occasions, Davis once came to me asking about whether he should go to the school dance. I didn’t quite enjoy all the interruptions during tech class, drama class, music class, math class, lunch, PE, track, Pokémon club, and DnD club. Ford came to me during DnD club, which we were both in, so I didn’t mind much. “Benny, is it valid to be friends with someone that was being a jerk to you two seconds after meeting?” Ford asked. I minded now. Very much. “No. No way.” I hissed. “You’re a jerk to everyone you meet and you still have friends.” Ford said. “I wouldn’t call half of the people you’re thinking of my friends.” I deadpanned. “What did you do, Ford?” Ford winced as her tail flicked nervously behind her. “Ford. What. Did. You. Do?” I growled. I was obviously overreacting, but I’m sick of these jerks and snobs coming to me with their problems. She didn’t answer. Typical. “Fine, don’t tell me. Just don’t interrupt my DnD sessions again.” I sighed and went back to my game. She was still there, but if she was gonna interrupt my game and not tell me what’s up, I’m not helping. Dang. We’re all jerks. Aren’t we? ——— I sat in the branches of a tree after school. Up here, no one could see me and start a therapy session, unless Sam told them where I was. I noticed Ford talking with a fennec fox girl, so I hopped down from the tree and walked over, ignoring Sam’s calls. “Who’s this? Thought I knew every traumatized person at school, and everyone has some sort of trauma or problem.” I asked, looking the fennec fox girl up and down. “Kayla Brooks.” The girl held out her hand. I shook it. “Benson Smith, they/them pronouns, please and thank you.” “Ooh, we’re doing pronouns too?” Kayla grinned. “She/her for me.” I scowled and pulled my hand away. What about this seemed entertaining to her?? What a jerk. “I don’t like her.” I whispered to Ford. “Not many people like you, Benny.” Ford chuckled. “Good. That means they’ll hopefully stay away from me, since the feeling’s mutual.” I hissed and crossed my arms. Ford giggled. “You’re such a jerk.” She walked off with Brooks. I hate Brooks.
